After surgery to reduce swelling of the ear, the patient’s head is bandaged for several days. In addition, painkillers are prescribed to relieve the pain of the patient. The surgeon will talk to the patient about the time that they must have the bandage on and what to do during sleep. Usually the patient’s head is bandaged for 3 days. When the bandage is removed, the surgeon gives the patient a headband that should be used for 2 to 3 weeks to accelerate the healing process.
