LASIK or Femto-LASIK surgery
In the past, in LASIK surgery, a 100 to 200-micron thick flap was made in the superficial tissue of the cornea using a cutting blade, and this flap was hinged back from the cornea. The remaining stroma tissue of the cornea is then ablated with an excimer laser machine. At present, in LASIK operations, the cornea’ flap was created by another laser called femtosecond instead of the surgical blade, and then the excimer laser machine ablates the surface of the cornea.
